Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa,
Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, to visit detroit
On Friday, December 5, the Archdiocese of Detroit will host United in Faith: Bridging Hearts from the Motor City to the Holy Land, an evening of fellowship and witness featuring His Beatitude and Eminence Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem. This rare visit offers us a living connection to the birthplace of our faith and a powerful opportunity to stand in solidarity with Christians in the Holy Land.
The evening will include a dinner with programming, where Cardinal Pizzaballa will share firsthand insights into the dire situation and enduring hopes of the Church in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. The Christian presence in the very places Jesus lived and taught is under threat. Today, Christians make up a vanishingly small minority of the population, facing immense personal and financial struggles, including widespread employment discrimination and intense social pressures. Despite this persecution, they heroically maintain and protect the holy sites sacred to us all. They are counting on our solidarity to keep their ancient faith alive in its homeland. Through the generosity of the faithful, we will help sustain their critical mission through pastoral care, education, and humanitarian outreach.
On behalf of Most Reverend Edward J. Weisenburger, Archbishop of Detroit, we invite you to join us in this extraordinary moment of unity and purpose by purchasing a ticket to the fundraiser, making a gift, or praying for the needs of the Church in the Holy Land. Your generous support affirms that the Motor City stands with the Holy Land and that together, we are united in Christ’s mission to bring light, peace, and love to the world.

ABOUT THE LATIN PATRIARCHATE of JERUSALEM
With roots dating back to 1099, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem was re-established in 1847 by Pope Pius IX and encompasses Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Cyprus. They work tirelessly to preserve the holy sites visited by Jesus and the saints of the early Church and also provide for the spiritual and material needs of all who come to them for assistance.
